Readiness of minors sentenced to imprisonment to professional self-determination as a problem of the modern pedagogical science
analysis of existing scientific approaches and author’s positions expressed in the professional orientation allowed to define the essence of the concept «readiness for professional self-determination of minors convicted to imprisonment». Its interpretation is based on two basic categories: professional self-determination and readiness.
Professional self-determination is a process that is carried out throughout the life of a person consisting in the formation of an individual attitude towards the professional and labor sphere and self-realization, achieved through the harmonization of personal and social and professional needs. Being an important characteristic of the socio- psychological maturity of the individual it assumes that minor convicts need to consciously choose their professional future, and the optimal forms and ways of behavior that allow it to be achieved.
Professional self-determination is multicomponent, what causes different approaches to its structuring.
the success of self-determination is promoted by the special direction of pedagogical activity – professional orientation. In the modern conditions it is pedagogical in methods, social in content, economic in terms of results and state in terms of organization of this work. In the educational colony it also acts as a means of resocializing persons, who serve punishment.
aspecial result of professional orientation is the formation of readiness for professional self-determination. the analysis of scientific sources allows us to assert that its content is made up of specific knowledge, skills, attitudes and attitudes toward specific professional actions.
In the penal practice it is proposed to use the notion «readiness for professional self-determination of minors sentenced to deprivation of liberty», indicating to them the integrative quality of the individual, which consists in recognizing the value of labor, acquiring special knowledge and skills, ensuring professional self-determination in the period of deprivation of liberty and the need for labor in the post-penitentiary period.
activities to ensure the formation of this readiness should be one of the directions of the educational process in the educational colony.
