The reform of penitentiary establishments in Germany

The article deals with the transformation process of penitentiary establishments in Germany within the framework of “the federalism reform” proclaimed in 2006 that gave the federal lands an exceptional legislative competence in the field of penal execution. The source of topical matter was the sites’ data of the Federal statistic service of Germany, the Federal ministry of justice, the magazines “Fokus” and the daily “Die Zeit”.
