Criminal law measures counteracting coercion to testify in the Republic of Abkhazia
The need to protect human rights and freedoms may arise at any stage of activity. It is especially important to do this when applying measures of state coercion, including when detaining and initiating a criminal case, since, in our opinion, the suspects and the accused are the most vulnerable category of citizens. Officials must adequately respond to the words of the suspect, his changing mood, various tricks, etc. At the same time a ban on unauthorized methods of interrogation should be observed. The use of coercive tactics compromises the work of law enforcement agencies, reduces trust and respect for officials.
