the article is devoted to the development of a pedagogical model for organizing
socio-cultural activities of students in educational institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service of
Russia to shape their professional competencies as future officers. Purpose: to develop and substantiate
a pedagogical model for organizing socio-cultural activities in the Federal Penitentiary Service
of Russia, educational institutions as a primary tool for developing professional competencies
and personal qualities necessary for successful service in the penitentiary system. Methods: analysis
of regulatory legal documents governing the educational process and educational work; study of
pedagogical models for training staff of the penal system; empirical methods, including surveys and
observations, as well as analysis of the practice of organizing socio-cultural activities in educational
institutions. Results: a pedagogical model for organizing socio-cultural activities of students in departmental
educational institutions has been developed. It is aimed at shaping professional competencies
and personal qualities of future officers. The application of this model facilitates the integration
of socio-cultural events into the educational process, which, in turn, influences the development
of key competencies required for effective performance of official duties. Conclusions: the study
confirms that socio-cultural activities are a significant factor in shaping professional competencies
of future penal system employees, contributing to the development of their personal qualities and
professional identity. The implementation of the proposed pedagogical model allows for systematic
and targeted development of key professional competencies, formation of a legal culture, and readiness
of students to effectively perform their official duties in the penal system.
